Peninsula Environmental Group Inc. is small environmental services company based in Port Angeles Washington, with satellite offices in Olympia Washington and Petoskey Michigan. We provide expert consulting and design services, and highly specialized contractor services, to a variety of clients across the Pacific Northwest and Midwest. Our sectors including private homeowners & private business, private and municipal development, local, state and federal government, tribes and non-profits.

The startup was bootstrapped in 2015 by Founder John Bornsworth. Originally formed as Peninsula Urban Forestry, we changed our name in January of 2019 to showcase our organic growth and evolved business. We consistently use technology, passionate ingenuity and fantastic client services to advance our clients needs and achieve our goals.

Meet Our Team



John Bornsworth is a Board Certified Master Arborist and Registered Consulting Arborist. His background is in ecological restoration and vegetation management. John represents commercial arboriculture on Washington State’s Urban & Community Forestry Council. John is project manager for tree, shoreline and restoration projects. He is an experienced expert witness and has extensive time consulting and providing testimony on a variety of situations related to trees, vegetation and critical areas.



Micki is an urban forestry and natural resource consultant focused on helping communities realize the maximum potential from their urban trees and natural spaces through planning and program development. She is an International Society of Arborists Certified Arborist and Municipal Specialist, and is certified in Wetland Science and Management through the University of Washington.



Over 15 years’ experience working as a field biologist with environmental consulting companies, construction and land management companies, universities and government agencies including U.S. National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey. Expertise in ornithology and botany.



Aaron is an experienced farmer and land manager, having returned to the North Olympic after years in central Washington raising crops while managing limited aquatic resources. Aaron facilitates permaculture and regenerative concepts in his habitat and environmental restoration practices. He is a member of the American Irrigation Association and manages large and small scale water capturing, retention/detention and irrigation systems.



Monica is a consulting arborist and ecologist who currently performs tree and habitat assessments, wetland, stream and shoreline delineations; conducts environmental code analysis and prepares environmental assessment and mitigation reports to support clients through the regulatory and planning process for project completion.



Tyson brings over 15 years construction experience to our team.  A wide range of experiences from commercial and historic remodels to trail building and custom off grid cabins.  Proficient in various wilderness scenarios including tree climbing, heavy rigging, natural stone and log work for bridges and masonry applications.  He values client satisfaction, safe and timely project completion, simplicity of design, minimal ecological impact, and site-specific permaculture practices.



Sam worked extensively on the Elwha restoration project in the Olympic National Park. She is an experienced plant manager and restoration practitioner with experience in the Pacific Northwest and the Southeast. She is a licensed herbicide applicator in Washington State.



Kia is a restoration technician with a background in biology and conservation. She has worked for NOAA – researching harmful algae blooms off the coast of Washington, conducted salmon and stream health surveys on the Olympic Peninsula, and is passionate about using mycoremedial techniques to conserve and rehabilitate the environment.



Sebastian is tribal member from The Hoh tribe working as a biological technician. Through the Washington Conservation Corp he acquired a variety of experience in environmental restoration, trail building, herbacide application, and assessment and removal of hazard trees. He has worked on a handful of national disasters helping those in need with debri removal, food distribution, and lead a team removing hazard and blown down trees.



Erica has over 10 years experience in administration, office management and finance.  Erica has worked in a variety of demanding and fast paced offices from Washington to Alaska including medical centers and tour services.  She facilitates communication between staff, contractors and clients.



Cassidy Grattan’s 20 years of diverse wildlife experience is key to our biological consulting and habitat resource assessment. He has surveyed for endangered species in California & Washington.



Courtney spent five years working in the fields of salmon and orca recovery, botany, and wetland ecology in both Southeast Alaska, and Western Washington prior to becoming a Certified Arborist and tree risk assessor. She now works part time with the North Olympic Land Trust as their Land Manager and part time with Peninsula Environmental. Courtney assists in conducting field surveys, tree & plant inventories and designing restoration plans. She is a Certified Arborist and a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor through the International Society of Arboriculture and the U.S. Forest Service.



Käerlek “Charlie” Jänislampi is a professional forester with extensive timber cruising and timber management experience. Käerlek studied and worked in forest management in Oregon and Montana before coming to Washington in 2015.

Joshua Chenoweth has worked in vegetation management for over 20 years, including 17 years as a botanist for Olympic National Park. In 2007, he received his M.S. in Ecological Restoration from the University of Washington. He has a comprehensive understanding of forest and riparian ecology, invasive species management, plant propagation and installation, vegetation monitoring, vegetation mapping and adaptive management.



Dr. Catharine Copass has a B.S. and M.Sci in Earth Systems from Stanford University and a Ph. D. from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where she integrated field studies with ecological modeling to track carbon in arctic ecosystems. Since 2005, Catharine has worked as an ecologist for the National Park Service, coordinating a variety of ecological inventory and monitoring projects across the PNW. She brings skills in research design, ecological statistics, vegetation classification, mapping, GIS and remote sensing to the team.



Kyle received his M.S. in Plant, Environmental and Soil Science from Louisiana State University in 2012. Since that time, he has been working as a consultant with homeowners and commercial farmers, helping to them to solve whatever horticultural challenges their situation may bring. He brings a seasoned eye and strong analytical background to helping PEG clients with their individual projects.



Josh Dallen owns and operates Arbor’s Edge, a full-service tree company serving the north Olympic Peninsula. Arbor’s Edge offers a complete range of tree services to meet the diverse needs of customers, their trees, and the environments they inhabit. Licensed, bonded and insured, and work in accordance with modern standards set by the International Society of Arboriculture and the American National Standards Institute.



CEO of The Remediators Incorporated, Howard brings over two decades of experience in bioremediation and restoration ecology. The Remediators are known for their contribution to the field of mycoremediation as early commercializers of the technology. The Remediators has continued to develop and expand the potential in the bioremediation industry with the creation of the Integrated Biological Approach which combines the use of mushrooms, microbes, and plants within custom tailored systems to meet a variety of remediation and restoration challenges.
