Peninsula Environmental Group Inc. is small environmental services and design company based in Port Angeles Washington, with satellite offices in Port Townsend, Olympia and Eugene. Our backgrounds, experience and education are scattered throughout the Country, from Rhode Island and New York to San Diego and Florida, but we’ve all found passion in the Pacific Northwest environment.

We provide scientific expertise, consulting and design services to a wide variety of clients across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana, including private homeowners & landowners, private and commercial developers, builders, engineers, local and state governments, public agencies, tribes, institutional facilities, and other professional contractors, experts and consultants.

Meet Our Team



John Bornsworth, president of Peninsula Environmental Group, provides leadership and strategy to an interdisciplinary team of practitioners and scientists. John aims to develop goal orientated solutions to complex environmental issues within our communities. With an integrated, holistic approach urban plant ecology and green space management, he brings new perspectives to community forestry, green infrastructure and urban design. His sectors of experience are community forestry, tree diagnostics, plant ecology, permaculture design, and vegetation management.



Justin Vendettuoli received his B.S. in Wildlife and Conservation Biology from the University of Rhode Island, with a research focus on ecological impacts of invasive species. After relocating to Washington State to work in conservation and discovering a love of wetlands, he expanded his education with the University of Washington’s Wetland Science and Management certification program. Since joining Peninsula Environmental Group’s team Justin has aided in environmental consulting and permitting, and supported the GIS and Mapping aspects of the firm. Justin further diversifies Peninsula Environmental Group’s ecologically comprehensive team by bringing research expertise and a passion for wetlands.



Micki is an urban forestry and natural resource consultant focused on helping communities realize the maximum potential from their urban trees and natural spaces through planning and program development. She is an International Society of Arborists Certified Arborist and Municipal Specialist, and is certified in Wetland Science and Management through the University of Washington.



Over 15 years’ experience working as a field biologist with environmental consulting companies, construction and land management companies, universities and government agencies including U.S. National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey. Expertise in ornithology and botany.



Dan Sullivan comes from a background in digital creative media and social media marketing.  After spending several years working for Canon in Virginia while alternately spending most weekends solo-hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and across parts of the Appalachian Trail, he moved to Washington for bigger adventures.  With an FAA Remote Pilot Certification, Dan operates our UAV technology for Aerial Mapping & Imagery Services.



Kaerlek “Charlie” Janislampi is a professional forester with extensive timber cruising and timber management experience. Kaerlek studied and worked in forest management in Oregon and Montana before coming to Washington in 2015.



Cassidy Grattan’s 20 years of diverse wildlife experience is key to our biological consulting and habitat resource assessment. He has surveyed for endangered species in California & Washington.



Courtney is a trained zoologist and marine biologist. She has spent the last five years working in the fields of salmon habitat restoration, botany, and wetland ecology in both Southeast Alaska, and Western Washington. She now spends her time out in the field conducting surveys, designing restoration plans, and assisting with urban forestry consulting for Peninsula Environmental Group. She is a Certified Arborist and a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor through the International Society of Arboriculture. Courtney manages our native plant nursery.

Josh Dallen owns and operates Arbor’s Edge, a full-service tree company serving the north Olympic Peninsula. Arbor’s Edge offers a complete range of tree services to meet the diverse needs of customers, their trees, and the environments they inhabit. Licensed, bonded and insured, and work in accordance with modern standards set by the International Society of Arboriculture and the American National Standards Institute.



Kyle received his M.S. in Plant, Environmental and Soil Science from Louisiana State University in 2012. Since that time, he has been working as a consultant with homeowners and commercial farmers, helping to them to solve whatever horticultural challenges their situation may bring. He brings a seasoned eye and strong analytical background to helping PEG clients with their individual projects.



Joshua Chenoweth has worked in vegetation management for over 20 years, including 17 years as a botanist for Olympic National Park. In 2007, he received his M.S. in Ecological Restoration from the University of Washington. He has a comprehensive understanding of forest and riparian ecology, invasive species management, plant propagation and installation, vegetation monitoring, vegetation mapping and adaptive management.
