Tree Risk Assessments

Tree Risk Assessment is an internationally qualified approach to evaluate, identify, and manage risk in trees. Our Consulting Arborist staff are trained in this method of assessment, and others. Before you have your tree pruned or removed by a company who profits off pruning and removal, ask a tree professional if it’s necessary or good for the tree.

AirSpade & Root Pruning

Our AirSpade® features a supersonic nozzle that shoots compressed air at high velocity to quickly break apart soils without damaging tree roots. It is used for non-damaging, quick removal of soil around tree roots, in order to inspect tree health and remediate impacted soils. It also allows for safe and fast excavation near active gas or electrical lines.

Tree Appraisals, Timber Trespass & Expert Witness

Our owner, Board Certified Master Arborist and Registered Consulting arborist provides expert testimony for timber trespass and other natural resource legal matters. Tree appraisals and tree law are complex. Make sure you have a reputable, scientific firm on your side.

Viewshed Management

Trees grow in our views, but they also prevent erosion and bluff instability. We take both of these factors into account when managing viewsheds. Our Consulting Arborists both write plans for viewshed management and can perform the pruning and removal work needed to manage your viewshed.

Arborist Reports for Permits

Arborist reports may be needed for a variety of things, including personal records, interactions with neighbors, municipal or county requirements, HOA requirements. We write arborist reports fitted to your requirements and objectives.

Plant/Soil Analysis and Diagnostics

A soil sample or plant sample may help identify soil insufficiencies or complex plant diseases. If you have plants you care about that aren’t establishing well or are in poor condition, these analysis may help.

Conservation Arboriculture

Conservation Arboriculture is the practice of cultivating and preserving old trees. Not all old trees must be removed, they can be managed for risk and allowed to decay naturally, providing valuable natural habitat. A dead tree is still a tree and can be managed as such.

Insect & Disease Management

Plant and tree experts use an integrated approach to insects and diseases. Our Certified Arborists have accurately diagnosed and successfully treated thousands of trees, shrubs and lawns across the Pacific Northwest.

Defensible Space/Firewise Planning

Our Certified Arborists are trained in defensible space planning. Defensible space planning in Western Washington is different from Eastern Washington. Our recommendations will include both vegetative and structural recommendations as our best available science shows that most wildfires in communities are spread through insufficient building practices and not necessarily the vegetation surrounding them.

Timber/Forest Management Plans

Washington State’s Designated Forestland program includes options for tax relief for timbered properties. If you own 5 acres or more of forestland, you qualify for tax relief. These plans must be renewed every 10 years, or whenever property ownership changes. Timber Cruise A timber cruise is used when you want a value of the trees on your property. This is not a health evaluation but a fiscal evaluation. We consider local mill prices, site accessibility and timber present on the site.

Pre-purchase Tree Inspections

We provide pre-purchase tree inspections to help better understand the land you are purchasing. Is the forest healthy? Are trees surrounding the house safe? We can generally provide this service during your feasibility timeline prior to purchase.

Tree Testing

Our Certified Arborists use specialized equipment to test and measure decay inside living trees. We can directly assess remaining strength and decay of trees you’re concerned about, without causing damage by boring large holes into the tree. This is generally used on desirable trees that have an unknown structural anomaly.
