Hood Canal Coordinating Council – Marine High Bluff Shoreline Demolition

Hood Canal Coordinating Council – Marine High Bluff Shoreline Demolition

July 13, 2020

Our construction crew was asked to demolish and remove structures on a highly technical steep slope in Poulsbo. This included a 80 foot staircase spanning half the distance of the steep slope, a 12×12 beach hut, and a beach deck. Material in this project was treated in creosote or other pressure treatments, so special care was taken to remove it without releasing more toxins into the slope. The slope itself was in accessible to foot traffic and 150 feet from top of the bluff to the nearest road. Heavy equipment could not be used due to the sensitivity of the natural environment. All the material was extracted from the slope using a high-line crane system and specialized rigging gear.
