Senior Forester

Käerlek “Charlie” Jänislampi is a professional forester with extensive timber cruising and timber management experience. Käerlek studied and worked in forest management in Oregon and Montana before coming to Washington in 2015.
He brings with him a range of skills and experience, including silviculture, timber procurement, timber harvest management, arboriculture, forest engineering, forest planning, data analysis, and plant physiology. Käerlek is a conscientious and economically-minded forester with both ecological and industrial experience.

Forest Resources Technology – Undergraduate Technical Program, Central Oregon Community College (Oregon State University)

Master Logger – Certified by the Washington Contract Loggers Association

Financial Asset Management – Bureau of Indian Affairs 

Sawyer – USDA Forest Service

B.S. Forestry, University of Montana – Forest Management

M.S. Plant Science, Utah State University – Crop Physiology

Graduate Certificate, University of Idaho – Environmental Education

  • Environmental Consultant – vegetation management, tree care, and timber valuations
  • Climbing Arborist – arboricultural operations on private and public lands
  • Forest Manager – management and oversight of all forest inventory and operations on ~20,000 acres
  • Procurement Forester – management of current and potential timber sales, cruising, appraisal, marketing, harvest operations, and planning
  • Real Property Specialist – land use management, including valuations, contracts, and negotiations
